my blog invisible in tags and freshly pressed

  1. I set a blog to be published at 9pm tonight, UK time. It was marked as published but wasn't. So I hit the publish now button. The blog has gone live but does not appear under any tag searches. I deleted the post, re-published it and still nothing. No-one is visiting which confirms it's not visible to others. Please help!
It was published with these tags...ecology, environment, garden, gardening, home, home improvement, inspiration, lifestyle, projects and random. My blog is http://earthandhearth.wordpress.com. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is chriscaff.wordpress.com.

  2. It takes some time for WordPress to update and show posts under the specified tags, no posts show up on Freshly Pressed apart from the ones that are handpicked by staff.

  3. Do not delete published posts. Doing that means you break the URL. It takes time for cached data to update. Moreover, you have more than a combined total of 10 Categories and tags on that post. Please see here > Missing posts

Also ardpete is correct Staff choose which posts from 20 million blogs to display on Freshly Pressed.

  4. Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm aware of that and that staff pick out freshly pressed. I've been blogging on here for two years, so I'm used to the flow of it. But I still can't find this post and it's now 10.30pm here, and no visitors to the latest post (this is a new second blog) Usually it's there in minutes (I have a photography blog and always check that tag to see what photo's been used). So I'm still mystified.

  6. Thanks timethief. I didn't know about these issues as I've not had a problem before. I'll go back and reduce the number of tags/categories and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.

  7. You're welcome.

  8. Not only that, but it's now random as to whether or not a given post appears in tag pages. Staff say they've done this to reduce tag spamming.

  9. @raincoaster
Thanks for providing that information. I wasn't aware of it but I have been aware of the spammers --- aarrggh!

  10. Oh, I see! Thanks for your reply. I can understand why, but how else does a new blog become visible? I was under the impression all posts went through the tags-in two years this hasn't happened before so I've spent two hours trying to work out what was wrong, and now wonder how to get a new blog noticed if posts don't become apparant in tags.

  11. I don't rely on the WordPress.com global tags pages for drawing traffic to my blogs. I have been here for 5 1/2 years. During that time there has never been even a noticeable flow of traffic, let alone, a significant one to either of my blogs from the global tag pages.
