My gravatar has changed

  1. I'm confused as my gravatar that WAS by blog has now dissappeared, in it's place there's now a purple pattern and when I clicked this pattern it took/takes me to a random website! How do I sort this out?? Because there is NO way that I want to promote my blog now, only to be helping this random website!!

The blog I need help with is veganapanda.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,
Your gravatar has not changed on your gravatar profile page here http://en.gravatar.com/veganapanda

Please check your settings here > Dashboard > Settings > Discussion and scroll way done the page to "Avatars".
http://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatar-hovercards/ That's also where you choose to enable gravatars or identicons, etc. and where you can set an maximum rating and default avatar for gravatar display on your blog.

  3. Note that the Identicon found in the blog at http://veganapanda.wordpress.com/ in the sidebar is linked to a Twitter account! https://twitter.com/veganpanda Is that your Twitter account or not?

  4. NO, that is NOT my twitter profile, if it was why would I be questioning this??!!

  5. Thanks. Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that's how many hackers gain access to blogs.

Then read this please and act on what you find there > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

    1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.

    2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

    3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/

    4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password

    5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

I did a security check on your blog http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/veganapanda.wordpress.com/
I also did one on your gravatar profile page
    http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/en.gravatar.com/veganapanda

I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

  6. I'll definitely do a security check on my wordpress and gravatar too, so thanks for the links. I know I have no problems with my email account but recently changed my password there anyway. Hopefully my blog will be sorted soon :)

  7. At the risk of sounding preachy I'll post what's below for you to think about before Staff respond here. Based on my 8 years of answering questions here, if any person or any bot is posting anything to your blog then you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.

You may want to ask yourself these questions and act on any answers that pop up:

    1. Who has access to your login information?
    2. Did you use the same password for your email account and your blog and for any other accounts?
    3. Are you sharing log-in information with anyone else or leaving it where anyone can locate it?
    4. Is your password a weak one that others can easily guess?
    5. Are you remaining logged in on your computer so anyone can come along and access your blog through it?
  8. I LIVE ALONE so NOBODY has my log in info, even so I DID change my password!

I don't think it's helpful plus it's rude to suggest that the hack to my blog MUST be my fault, it makes me want to leave this damn place!!

  9. What I posted above has helped many people over the years and nothing I have posted has been rude or mean spirited.

Please got to your gravatar profile page at http://en.gravatar.com/veganapanda and then tell me. Did you post this code there? Yes or No?

    [gigya width="300" height="200" quality="high" src="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?up_foodColor=FCB347&up_fishColor5=F20FD4&up_fishName=Fishes&up_fishColor3=AE0EE3&up_fishColor9=F45540&up_fishColor4=EDED07&up_fishColor7=3A9975&up_fishColor6=3E10E6&up_fishColor2=23E615&up_numFish=8&up_backgroundImage=http://&up_fishColor10=F45540&up_backgroundColor=0CC3E8&up_fishColor1=F0240A&up_fishColor8=F5C814&" scale="noscale" salign="tl" ]

  10. Not at all, I don't post code! Can I just remove it??

  11. As you did not post that code on your gravatar profile page I think it's best to wait until Staff work their way forward to this thread.

  12. I'll log out and leave my blog for now until it's sorted yes?

  13. You can do that yes and you will be notified by email if you click the Subscribe to this topic link in the sidebar of the thread or if you click this link below each comment box __ Notify me of followup posts via e-mail

  14. How long can I not use my Blog for? I posted a (what was) new post before I logged out, it will very soon be out of date!

  15. Am I being ignored now???

  16. Hi there!

Sorry for the trouble you had with this. I managed to see what went wrong with the gravatar image and found that the Custom email address that was entered inside the widget did not match yours. The email address had a "@googlemail.com" address on it. I changed it to "@gmail.com" to match your email.

To see the widget, go to Appearance -> Widgets in your dashboard:

    https://veganapanda.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

For more guidance on the Gravatar widget, click here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gravatar-profile-widget/

Your profile picture should be displaying correctly now. Let me know if you run into more issues. Thanks!

  17. Thanks for eventually replying to me, but I'm confused because I had already been told what was wrong with my Gravatar image (the code that had suddenly appeared there), also because I had already changed the googlemail address to my gmail one!??

As soon as I knew something had gone wrong I changed my WordPress password, hopfully that will help to stop any further hacking etc. I will of course report if I find further problems, happily I can at least now actually get back to my blog :)

  18. That's great to hear! Feel free to reach out to us if you need anything else. Cheers!
