my post did not appear in topics

  1. I have not got too many tags or categories. It is not offensive.I am not a new blogger. I am wondering what to do?

The blog I need help with is mythoughtsonapage.com.

  2. What is the URL of the post please?

I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. I took a look and everything is working properly. Your post appears in the reader topics. In what particular topic where you looking at?

  4. On the day I posted my post "Freshly Impressed #6" it did not appear in any of the topics listed, ie blog, general etc. The following day I posted a new post as I have done daily since and I had no problem. It was just that post, that day.
Thank you for checking it out. I have no idea what happened. Maybe it was just one of those things!

  5. It seems your posts doesn't have any tags, only categories. Please follow the steps in this guide to add specific tags to your post: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/tags/

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

  6. @kardotim
Is this something new? That only tags are used for being included in the Reader/topics—it's been my understanding that tags and categories function the same way with respect to being included in the Reader.

Is there any advantage to using tags or categories, or both?
Your posts will appear in the Topics listings of any tags or categories you use. Therefore, assigning tags and categories to your post increases the chance that other WordPress.com users will see your content.

  7. Hi
I too thought that categories alone would still show in readers topics.
Maybe this is what happened although the "or" in categories or tags makes me wonder.

  8. Sorry for the confusion! It seems the issue is caused by something else. The slug of the category name changed because there's already a tag that goes by the same name.

For example, the post can't be found under the 'family' topic in the reader because the slug of that category is 'family-2'. This slug is created because there is already a tag that goes by the name 'family', that's why the -2 is added.

    https://1tric.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category&post_type=post&s=family

I suggest to either remove the post from the category and add the tag instead, or rename the category.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

  9. Great help. Thanks a million, I'll do as you suggest. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to figure this out.
