My text and photos are all mixed up

  1. When I type a new post in my blog and add photos I cannot just hit enter and have the text go below the photo, sometimes I cannot get to below the photo at all to enter new text. What am I doing wrong? I even tried to enter the photos and text in the "text" mode and it still comes out all over the place. I cannot see below the photos I am posting to know if I have another line to type on.

    HELP!

    The blog I need help with is robynscraftnest.wordpress.com.

  2. The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that's centered without text on either side of it. If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.

    Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.
    Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.
    Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).

    Every theme has a maximum displayed image width http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/maximum-image-width/ so it's important to keep that in mind when posting multiple images side-by-side. If you want two images to be side by side on the same line start by setting the alignment of both images to left. To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the HTML editor after each image/text pair:
    <br style="clear:both;" />

  3. I assumed blogging was easy! lol Here's my current dilemma: I have two photos, side-by-side. I want to go below those photos to enter more text. I cannot see a cursor so that when I hit "enter" nothing happens. When I go to the "text" mode I can do that and my new text is below the code for the photos. But when I go to "visual" mode my text is between the photos and there seems to be no way to go below them. Does this make sense?

    I know nothing of codes - I assumed I didn't need to know coding to use WordPress. Was I mistaken?

  4. I assumed I didn't need to know coding to use WordPress. Was I mistaken?

    Yes and no: some things are possible without coding and some aren't.

    But when I go to "visual" mode my text is between the photos and there seems to be no way to go below them. Does this make sense?

    Yes it does. Two photos side by side means that their alignment has been set to left and/or right. Left and right alignment result in wrap-around: that's what you're describing, it's expected behavior, and you can't override it without coding. The paragraph you want below the photos needs to be written like this (in the Text/HTML editor):
    <p style="clear:both;">TEXT HERE<p>

  5. It worked! Thanks so much.....I'll get this blogging thing down eventually!

  6. You're welcome!
