My text / html widget won't display the html

  1. I'm currently using the "Elegant - Grunge" theme and I don't know if that has anything to do with this but I have loaded up the "text html" widget on both my "primary" and "footer" areas and neither will display anything but the code. It won't display the graphic interface the code represents just the code itself which, of course, looks hideous. When you click on the code then it will display a full screen white page with the graphic in the top left corner.

What can I do to get this to display properly?

    Thanks
    Scott

The blog I need help with is poeticsojourn.wordpress.com.

  2. No, it's got nothing to do with the theme. The code you're trying to paste is an iframe. We're not allowed to use iframes, for security reasons. See here as well:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  3. Thank you for your response. I wonder why other sites are using it but you can't because of security. I have it installed on my sites on Weebly, Tumblr, Blogger among others.

What can I do about it? Anything?

Being a software novice, how can I know the html I have will work in your widgets then?

    Thank you
    Scott

  4. Thank you for your response. I wonder why other sites are using it but you can't because of security.

WordPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform and that means that our blogs are not free standing. They share a common architecture so one incidence of bad code could bring down many blogs.

  5. Whoops! I forgot to add that WordPress.org installs for self hosting are independent so if you install a bad iframe code or Javascript code on a self hoested WordPress.org install the only security risk is to your own install and no others.
