Nameserver switch MESSED up my site Please HELP

  1. I moved my site bangnslap.com to wordpress.ORG last year. I want it to stay there. Today I went to my site and it had moved back to wordpress.COM. I tried getting help in the wordpress.ORG forum they sent me to you.

Nameserver set to WordPress.COM by http://www.wildwestdomains.com I have no idea how this happened I haven't changed anything on my site.

Here is my wordpress.org forum entry: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/have-i-been-hacked-28?replies=9#post-4296394

The blog I need help with is bangnslap.com.

  2. This is a free hosted WordPress.com blog http://bangnslap.com/ Expired Domain
Oops, it looks like bangnslap.com has expired. For more information on what your options are, please see this document. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

  3. I renewed my registration. I was prompted by wordpress.com. How do I get my site back to wordpress.org

  4. Go here and change update the name servers > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-nameservers
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/
Know it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.

  5. I'm stuck. I logged in to "Domain Management" and now I don't know what to do. I asked tech support at Hostgator and they don't know what the nameservers should be.

Once I've changed the nameservers everything will go back to normal within 24-72 hours right?

  6. If you are hosted on Hostgator then they are the ones to provide you with the correct name server info - one would think that they would know what their own name servers are

Once you have everything set correctly then yes your blog should go back to normal in 24 to 72 hours - changes usually start after a few hours but can be erratic during the propagation time

  7. I set the WordPress.com blog's nameservers to the Hostgator nameservers 68 hours ago. The wordpress.COM blog was up for awhile but it is now down. And obviously my site hasn't returned to being the wordpress.ORG site that it was.

  8. still down after more than 72 hours

  9. What exact nameservers did you set it to?

  10. Hi there, it looks like the name servers are currently set to Hostgator. I checked in two separate whois database tools:

    ns457.hostgator.com 184.173.196.211 ns458.hostgator.com 216.172.173.180

    I'm seeing your self-hosted site here: http://bangnslap.com/

If you're still seeing your WordPress.com site, you may need to clear your local PC's DNS cache. If you let me know what OS you're running I can send you instructions for trying that.
