Need help adding widgets from advertisers and adjusting image size in Esquire

    I just switched to the esquire theme - which I love - but need to make a few changes. Unfortunately, I do not know CSS {which is why I really like using wordpress!}. Would love some help making a few tweaks.

    1. I need to add two widgets to the top portion of the blog {above the fold} from my advertisers. I could add it under the "links I love" or create a right-hand sidebar.

    These are the two widgets I need to add:

    One:

    2. The blog is slightly contorting my images. Although I put the auto embed size as 640 under Settings>media. { 600 would also do since it's what I used in the theme Vigilance, but I like 640 since that's what my Flickr images are set as.} However, Esquire is scaling them to 560px × 400px. It just looks weird, especially since I use a wide-angle lens most of the time.

    I would really appreciate any help. Again, I love this template, but unless I can tweak it, I'll have to look for a different one.

    No.

    You need to review the terms of service here: they rule out blogger-initiated advertising altogether. If advertising is central to your blogging strategy, you'll need to find a web host and export your blog to that, because it's not allowed here.

    1. User advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under "Affiliate marketing blogs" in the bottom set of bullet points in the "types of blogs" link below.

    Oh gosh, thanks for the advice. I won't need pursue number one at all. I really enjoy blogging at wordpress. And it looks like I'd need more CSS experience to tackle number two. Thanks again.

    You are welcome. Might be best to look for a theme that is as wide as you want. Take a look at this post by Panos that lists the clear width in the posting area on the themes here.
