All that shows up is my user name. How do I change the name of my blog from my user name to my "clever" name for my blog?
Can't put it in as a user name because it says all must be lower case, no caps

Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog then, Site titles (Blog Names) and Taglines located here > Settings > General can easily be changed at any time.

However, understand that I don't recommend that you do this, but if you want to change the URL or blog address see here and read everything very carefully at least twice before doing anything > changing a blog address > http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
