Need help with re-posting

  1. Hi all - I want to re-post a post from a couple of years ago, but I want the old post to also remain intact. In other words, I do want the same post to appear twice. In searching the forums I see references to changing the timestamp, but that seems to lead to the original post becoming lost.

Short of copying and pasting the original into a new post (in which case would I just copy the whole HTML page?) is there an easy way to repost? Thanks in advance for your advice!

The blog I need help with is frenchletters.wordpress.com.

  2. Actually, I've answered my own question. Here, for anyone else trying to do this, is a simple solution. Just click the HTML tab, copy everything in your old post, and paste it into the HTML tabbed page of a New Post window. It'll all appear, even the pictures, and your old post will remain intact. East as pie, don't know why I was even looking for a more complicated solution.

  3. Be careful with duplicate content, even on the same blog. Search engines watch for that sort of thing and can actually downgrade your search engine ranking if they see too much of it.

What I do in these cases where I again want to highlight a certain post that has become topical again, is to either create a new post where I create an introduction to the older post and then have a link back to that older post at the bottom of the newer one.

Another way to do this is to temporarily set the older post as a sticky post so that it will appear at the top of the main page.

These two solutions avoid the issue of duplicate content.
