Need help with the name displayed when I comment on other blogs.

  • When I comment on other pages from blogger, it asks to sign in with ______.wordpress.com . When I fill in my username, it says that it doesn’t belong to me. It works only if I fill in my blog title.
I want my name to be displayed when I comment on something, not my blog’s.
I didn’t have this problem about a month back. What do I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Your username is only your username on wordpress.com, not on blogger, i.e. there could be someone whose username on Google is srishti22, that’s why you need to log in with your blog URL. Blogger then contacts wordpress for your display name, so your username should still appear next to your comments along with the wordpress icon. At least, that’s how I understand this paragraph from the blogger support doc:

Note that your display name is the name sent to us by the OpenID provider. If no display name is given, we will try to derive it from your OpenID URL. This is the name that will be displayed as the author of the comment and will be linked to your OpenID URL.

Whether it actually works this way I cannot say, as my URL and username are the same. In any event, that would be a blogger issue and not a wordpress one, so I don’t know that you’ll be able to change anything here to fix that.
