   if you take a look my blog, you'll see that the Salsa Recipe posting has alot of placeholder text ... and this template seems to show ALL the text in the preview, regardless of how long it is. I'd like to cap the preview text at a certain point, and have it be a 'read more' button situation.

   Any ideas how to do this with CSS?

   the theme is Pinboard by Automatic

   I'm not familiar with the Pinboard theme, but most themes on wp.com can use the "more" tag when editing posts:
   http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

   No CSS required: just use it where you like in each post…
