Need some help, just learning

  1. hi im new here and have a couple of problems with my blog i need help with

i want to remove the date, uncategorised and leave a comment. if this can be done without css then great, but if i need to il buy the upgrade. if someone can explain in a simple way thanks.

also, i deleted my tagline, but its left a really annoying small box at the top of my screen i have no idea how to get rid of

any help would be greatly appreciated

The blog I need help with is pascalsime.com.

  2. You haven't deleted only the tagline, you have deleted the blog title as well, and that's very bad for search engines. You should go to Settings > General and enter a title and a tagline, then go to Appearance > Header and hide them.

You can remove the comment tab if you disable comments and pings (in the post/page editor for already published posts/pages, in Settings > Discussion for future ones).

You can't remove the other post metadata without the Custom Design upgrade.

But before you buy the upgrade: Why do you want to remove the metadata? Do you know that you can publish pages instead of posts? Pages have no date or category.

PS The left column in Chunk is useless if you want no metadata. So you might consider looking for a different theme.

  3. thanks bud, i did what you said, its really helped,

i have a few more questions, once i know this i can now finish my page, any time you take to help is much appreciated

is it possible to change the order of the pages e.g so home page is on the left side?

I just looked at my site when I wasn't signed in and it still says “edit” on the side bar, can i remove this?

How do I put some pictures on the side bar, if not anywhere?

There is a default home page, but its not in my dashboard/pages area, how can I actually work on that page?

sorry bud, I have no idea what metadata is?

  4. is it possible to change the order of the pages e.g so home page is on the left side?

Yes there are two ways to do this.
    1. Pages » Page Attributes> Pages > Order This ought to be used if you choose to have only Pages in that menu bar.

    2. Custom menu
A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages, Tags, and/or Custom Links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide.

  5. I just looked at my site when I wasn't signed in and it still says “edit” on the side bar, can i remove this?

That's an Admin edit link that only you can see. Clear your browser cache and cookies and it will disappear. Also set up your browser so it automatically clears the cache and cookies when you log off the interent.

How do I put some pictures on the side bar, if not anywhere?

uploading images into posts and pages
    image widget
    text widget
maximum displayed image widths by theme
    sidebar widths by theme

  6. There is a default home page, but its not in my dashboard/pages area, how can I actually work on that page?

There is only one running page for posts in a blog. By default the front page of the blog is the running page for posts.if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on and designate them here > Reading > Settings
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  7. On the dashboard or every new blog there is a video you can use.
On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.
The searchbox there provides results from both the support documentation and from forum threads.

  8. @timethief: The sidebar in Chunk is for the post metadata, not for widgets.

@pascalsime: So you cannot put images in the sidebar of this theme. As I already suggested, you should look for a different theme. You can read about all the themes and see them in action here:
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sort/name/

    Metadata = date, category etc.

  9. Thanks for that correction. I confess I didn't take note of the theme being used.

  10. the widget puts my images at the bottom of the screen, which i dont really mind

thanks for all your help everyone, made my day :)

  11. You're welcome from me.
