Need theme advice (premium if I have to)

  1. I'm looking for a theme that will allow me to change my font size -- and maybe even colors. I'd also like to be able get rid of the "leave a reply" comment option at the bottom of the page. What I'm looking for is more flexibility but without learning CSS and still having a clean site like I have now. Any advice on which theme to use? I'll even use a premium theme if I have to.

The blog I need help with is russellking.wordpress.com.

  2. I'm sorry but there are no themes that provide what you are looking for free of charge. These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.

    (1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

    (2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

    (3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles cannot be done without CSS editing.

You can close comments but the "comments closed" or similar phrase can only be hidden or removed with CSS editing.

  3. Please note that my response above is limited only to a knowledge of free themes. We Volunteers answering questions on this forum have no knowledge of how Premium Themes they are designed to operate as we have no access to theme.

  4. Thank you -- just as i suspected. OK, howe about themes i can buy. Any advice on which one to buy?

  5. I'm sorry but I think you were posting at the same time I was. We Volunteers answering questions on this forum have no knowledge of how Premium Themes are designed to operate as we have no access to them. Theme Staff do monitor threads in this forum so I'll flag this one for their attention.

  6. Thank you again. Can you at least direct me to a place where I can get some advice or consulting on which theme to buy from among those for sale?

  7. You are, indeed, helpful and kind. I will wait and hope a theme monitor will find me.

  8. If you note the sidebar I have flagged this thread asking for a response form Staff to you. theme Staff prefer us to flag threads rather than asking members to file support tickets and that's why I made that choice. As there are millions of WordPress.com members it may take some time for Staff to answer you but normally that will happen withing 24 hours on a week day like today.

  9. There's a way to change font size and color in the editor, but it only affects the content inside the editor itself (the content that you add). See this help page for details: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

To change fonts for things like post titles or widget content or titles, you would need to purchase the Custom Design upgrade. There's a font editor built right in that's very easy to use (no coding required), and then you can get help with any coding bits in the CSS Customization forum if you're not sure how to change colors. Just post a link and a description of what you're trying to update. You can preview CSS changes before purchasing, so you might want to try it out once you find a theme you like!

Anyone can review the premium themes. They are in the theme showcase site as well as in your dashboard under Appearance → Themes. You can even preview exactly how the content of your site will look with a premium theme if you click preview from one of them.

Note that the same rules about modifications apply to free and premium themes, you would need a Custom Design upgrade to change the layout of either type of theme (such as things like font color or removing a title like "leave a reply"). So for you, I would recommend looking through the showcase or your Appearance → Themes page to find a theme you like first.

When you say you want to remove the "leave a reply" comment option. Do you want to remove comments all together or just the "leave a reply" title above them. To remove the title, you would use the Custom Design upgrade. To remove comments, see http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
