Need to move blog...www.livingbeyondlimits.com

  1. I have maintained a website, http://www.livingbeyondlimits.com, for 6 years, and attempted this past month to run it as a blog off another host. Learning curve was too steep, so I notified the host this evening that I needed to cancel the account. I need to get the site name hosted with WordPress.com. The old host has the nameservers/domain.

    1) So do I transfer that to WordPress...and how?

I tried to sign the site up with WordPress, but since it already exists, it isn't accepted. I FTPed the other site up...but it doesn't need to be migrated so long as I can cut and paste the content in place. Please advise...The old site will probably be gone by tomorrow.

    2) Also, I have email redirected through my website to my personal email (which has kept my "visible" email consistent for the past 6 years. Hopefully, WordPress will be able to maintain that?

  3. 1. Unfortunately, we can't accept incoming domain transfers, but you can register a free [blog].wordpress.com blog and map your existing domain here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

You can transfer your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-from-wordpress-org

    2. You can setup the same email address(es) for free through Google Apps for Domains following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/

  4. Site moved and mapping resolved. Thank you. I attempted to sign up for Google Apps. Set up - Create your first administrator account takes my input and progresses me through the first two screens. At the third it returns the same screen, telling me "Google Account already exists." Google Apps tells me "This domain is not yet setup." Google Apps for my website refuses to let me log in. "The username or password you entered is incorrect."

  5. I noticed in another topic that you sent in a support ticket, so we'll work on this through that too.

  6. WeSetup unsnarled the Google Apps and I am now functioning...
