Need to refresh page to get the right font

  1. It has nothing to do with the theme. It is, as the staffer above said, that you have too much stuff on your front page; any theme would experience the same problems.

    the problem may be that you are loading way too much stuff on the home page and that is causing your site home page to have trouble loading on slow connections.

  2. The question is : Why isn't it specified when you a choose a theme : "be careful, if you load 2 pics, you couldn't choose your head front font even for 99$ ?"

  3. It. Has. Nothing. To. Do. With. The. Theme.

  4. So. You. couldn't. offer. me. any. solutions ?

  5. Yes, as before I will refer you to the staff member who made some suggestions.

    In brief: use the More tag. Optimize your images for the web. Reduce the number of posts that show on the landing page of your blog. Those three things will almost certainly solve the problem.

  6. What about replacing it with a logo ?

  7. You could do it, but I don't recommend it for SEO reasons.

  8. Not me, you. I can't place a logo instead of the title. The place of the logo with this theme doesn't suit me. So, you could place a logo instead of the changing and problematic title "dekalaz"

  9. Using an image replacement technique for the header would certainly work. Here is an example using a WordPress logo for the image to illustrate how to do it:

    #header .site-title a {
    	background: url(http://s.wordpress.org/about/images/logos/wordpress-logo-hoz-rgb.png) no-repeat;
    	width: 498px;
    	height: 113px;
    	display: block;
    	margin: 0 auto;
    	text-align: left;
    	text-indent: -9999px;
    }

    Replace the url() value with your own image and adjust the width and height values to match your image's width and height.

    I did look into this issue after your initial report several times and I was unable to reproduce the problem on the home pageā€”and I also asked a few other people in various locations to test and none of theme were able to see the problem you've described either. In addition, there is no 100% guarantee for fonts to load 100% of the time, especially if you are loading a very large amount of content on one page because doing that will likely cause issues for any page. But I am absolutely here to help and research this (which I have) and help you find a solution that will work for you. If you don't want to reduce the number of images and videos that appear on the home page, then using an image replacement technique does seem like a good, alternate solution for your case.

    I'm so sorry you've run into trouble! Nothing I have found so far indicates there is a problem with the custom fonts or the theme, and yours is the only report I've seen about this issue so I know it's not a widespread problem on WordPress.com. I will continue to keep an eye out for additional reports and research them if any are found. I will do my best to help you with alternate solutions (such as the logo image replacement CSS). Also, to help you with your account, I have consolidated your purchases into one bundle to save you some money on future renewals.

  10. Thanks for your answer and your understanding but seriously, to fix it in considering all of "that", should I beg you to do the "logo" for me or what ? You could evaluate my level in CSS / url and others, it's like chinese for me.

    About my purchases, did I understand well, that is to say that I've got some money for future renewals ? I don't want to purchase any future renewals. I'd just like to speak for now. I just want my money back on my account. I won't purchase anything more, I want it back. And, I know that 36$ for a non-package is not as if we spoke about a refund of my theme.

    So, for the header, do I have to get on my knees ? Before, I hoped you'd do it with creativity and create a beautiful logo for me. It looks like it's gonna be complicated ...

  11. You sound frustrated, and I'm sorry about that!

    To clarify, are you asking to keep all of the upgrades and the theme and still have money returned? Or are you asking to return the theme, switch to a different theme, and be refunded for the original theme purchase?

    About the header, if you provide the logo, I will add the CSS for you. Note that the CSS will need to to be updated if you switch themes and I can help you with that as well. CSS is theme-specific.

  12. I'm frustrated and particularly sad. I Just wanna cry especially after working and spending hours for a blog that doesn't suit me. I cannot get the result I want. A font just changes everything.

    As I told you, "I'll keep my theme". Don't change anything except giving me some money back. I know that my english is approximative but could you please pay attention and start any action please ? I'm not really happy about the negotiation.

    Could you do a logo for me please ? (question asked 4 times today)

  13. Hey guys, I tried to replicate the error with some interesting results. Even in those cases where the wrong font was being displayed, the right font was still being loaded, but for some strange reason it wasn't getting applied. I haven't gone deep enough, so I'm not sure if this will work, but you can give it a try. Add this to your custom CSS:

    #header .site-title {
    font-family: raleway-1,raleway-2,"Open Sans",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif !important;
    font-style: normal !important;
    font-weight: 100 !important;
    font-variant: normal !important;
    }

  14. I've given this a lot of thought.

    I am frustrated as well because I am unable to see the problem despite testing several browsers on different computers and from different internet connections.

    Without a consistent way to reproduce the problem or help from you to document the problem clearly, there's not much I can do except continue to give you suggestions. Please consider at least trying the suggestions.

    Regarding money, you must return upgrades in order to be refunded for them. I would be happy to help you with that, however, I keep suggesting alternate solutions and things to try because I would like to make sure I've done my best to research the issue and I need feedback from you in order to do that.

    To help you with your request for a logo workaround, I took a screenshot of exactly what I see when I open your site (I always see the correct font when I load your site) and uploaded it to your media library. If you want to use the logo workaround, you can apply the following custom CSS in your Appearance > Customize > CSS editor:

    #header .site-title a {
    	background: url(http://dekalaz.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/dekalaz-site-title.png) no-repeat;
    	width: 226px;
    	height: 61px;
    	display: block;
    	margin: 0 auto;
    	text-align: left;
    	text-indent: -9999px;
    }

    Before you try that though, consider applying marianojmiguel's suggestion to see if it works (thank you @marianojmiguel!). If it works, it would help to know that. Instead of using "raleway-1" shown in his example, I think you should add "raleway" (without the "-1" part). If you're willing to try it, add the following CSS to your Appearance > Customize > CSS editor, clear your browser cache, try loading the home page again, and check to see if the correct font appears for you on the first page load.

    #header .site-title {
    	font-family: raleway, raleway-1, raleway-2, "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
    	font-variant: normal;
    	font-style: normal;
    	font-weight: 100;
    }

    Could you also please verify your browser version for me please?

    If the solutions above don't satisfy you, then it would help if you could review the console panel in your blog while loading the fonts to see if there are any errors. I can walk you through the steps if you're interested in helping to document any errors which might be happening in your browser and not in mine.

  15. If you're willing to try to document errors if any are happening in your browser, here are some steps:

    1. Open Safari and note the version you are using
    2. Turn on the Develop menu by going to Preferences > Advanced > "Show Develop menu in menu bar"
    3. Go to Develop > Empty Caches
    4. Go to Develop > Show Error Console
    5. Open http://dekalaz.com/
    • If you see a script font (i.e. Pacifico), look in the console panel to see if you can find any error messages. If you can, please screenshot the entire browser window and upload it to your media library or to an image sharing service such as http://snag.gy/
    • What version of Safari are you using?
  16. Thank you @designsimply ! Using 'raleway' is not working for me, so that's why I suggested using 'raleway-1' instead, which is what Typekit is using. Anyway, it's a tricky problem, but I'm sure we can get this solved :)

  17. I'm sure I saw it as raleway (without the "-1") at one point, but now I can't find it again. Maybe the kit is getting cached in odd ways. :-\

  18. I haven't forgotten about this thread.

    I checked http://dekalaz.com/ just now and I see that you're using the image workaround via CSS. Are you happy with that workaround?

    I also plan to keep looking for any other similar reports from other users to see if I can get additional information that will help in testing.
