   Hi folks

   I have just started blogging PROPERLY.
   I tried it once before but didn't have an area to focus on and found I was therefore not compelled to post much and it died off.

   Now I am focused.. I am 101% energetically committed and absolutely dedicated to make my new blog work
   (I am also slightly addicted to the stats page)

   I am happy with my content but am aware that things on the layout and setup side may not be spot on.

   I am frightened of experimenting too much with new themes as I want my readers to have some continuity - but I'm willing to change to something that might suit my blog better.

   Things I really like about my blog format at the moment:
   - The headers I have set to change on different pages (will now be taking more/better pictures with headers in mind)
   - reasonable unfussy background, not distracting

   Things I'd like to do in the future:
   - the possibility to add an A-Z list of places I've been and each name would link back to relevant post
   - place maps on my posts with a pin in the location I am blogging about

   So hopefully this is my chance to get some good honest feedback from people that know about blogging and some advice on all the work that goes on in the background of my blog.

   You can register as many free blogs as you wish at WordPress.com and then use them as you wish. Once you have registered a test blog and set the visibility to “private” to keep out search engines, you make it into an exact replica of your main blog AKA a “mirror blog” and use it for testing themes, lay-outs , widgets, and any other new items you are considering adding to your main blog. Scroll down to "Every blogger needs a test blog"

   Hi Vicki

   It looks good to me. I tinkered for months on mine and still do! One thing that looks unusual to me is the fixed home page. I've never seen that before. I think most people would expect a home page to have excerpts of posts.

   Your home page would make a good 'about' page. But you may like it like that, so just a thought.

   Keep up the good work.
