new dashboard

    what happened with the original dashboard, please? I don’t have “enter title, add media, add poll, add contact form” like here:

    what shall I do if I want to edit a post, please?… quick draft, enter a description, save draft… I don’t get it! Can you enlighten me, please? thanx in advance! Mélanie

    Hi there,
    Exactly which blog URL starting with http:// are you referring to please?
    Are you logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog?

    I don’t have a clue what you are referring to as no Volunteers can see your Dashboard. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    Please post screenshot, upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

    The Dashboard just changed, yes, and although there are buttons to change screen options and how to view things, they go back to standard next time you go to the Dashboard, no option to save your preferences. I assume they’ve published it without finishing….

    thanx colour cottage, but it’s still “quick draft” and “what’s on your mind?”…:-) I did plan to edit a post with 2-3 pix, but can’t do it… what shall I do, please?

    I don’t know what to do about it, I just commented that my dashboard has changed too and seems a bit messy.

    To edit posts, go to Posts in the left menu? There you get a list of everything.

    I have similar problem as Melanietoulouse – cannot add pics…..
    in fact none of the ancillary buttons are working –

    Cannot add media, add poll, Cannot add tags
    Cannot mark Categories for a new post.

    Clicking Add Media results in nothing.
    I have been with WordPress since October 2009. Have nearly SIX Hundred posts – with no problems.

    My new post is a review of The Book Thief. The text entered with no problem – but nothing else is working.

    I also just checked the Reader and saw other brand new posts with pictures – so I am stumped.

    PS Same result with Safari, Google Chrome, or Internet Explorer.
    The Mozilla Firefox browser does not bring up visual editor – just the text editor.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    merci-thanx, I did go to “add new article” and I’ve found the original dashboard…:-) there’s a funny French saying:”why doing stuff simply of we can do it more complicated?!”:-))) tak & hugs! Mélanie

    When releasing the new dashboard (at your blog’s address followed by /wp-admin/ , e.g. http://example.wordpress.com/wp-admin) there were a number of y’all who had things not work—like inserting images or adding tags.

    We deployed a fix for those issues. If you’re still having issues, please let me know and we’ll get to the bottom of it.

    For mu usage of the Dashboard – having the count thing at the top left was better – I could click on the Spam filter every morning and clear spam – now I need to hunt or many more clicks to get there – I tried dragging the count box up and as soon as I reloaded the screen it went back to what your developers think is good, not what is most convenient to me

    Can I get rid of the stupid dotted box and get the dashboard back to normal, or this this another change for the worse.
    The dashboard is broken :)

    Mike – the placement of your widgets within the Dashboard should persist. The function to save location wasn’t changed during these edits, so we didn’t intend to change that behavior. I’m about to log off for the evening, but I’ll test out different permutations of that.

    In any event – – on my blog none of the buttons worked = couldn’t add media etc – I posted in this thread above.

    However, – all is working okay now. I’ve added images, tags, categories, etc.

    What ever was done – apparently was done in some haste…but it all good now.

    @kraftbj – The Site Content is now back at the top where I drug and dropped it earlier – back from oblivion I guess – the spam font size is smaller – I did see the Spam link in Activity – missed that earlier

    @auxclass – If you move your dashboard widgets, is it still not immediately “sticking” the preference if you switch pages and come back?

    It isn’t happening for everyone, so if it is still happening to you, can you let me know which blog’s dashboard specifically and if it it would be okay to test on your account (just move a widget back and forth looking at the data sent to the server and how it is being understood on our end)?

    @kraftbj – the site content moved back to the bottom – I think yesterday – I drug it back to the top left corner again when I saw it – so it seems to be erratic – the Dashboard is captnmike.wordpress.com

    Feel free to move things around, I will just chalk up any strange things to “staff tinkering & testing” for the next few days – I used to do industrial software and did both program design / programming and software testing so not an issue

    @auxclass—Much appreciated. I was experiencing it on one of my accounts, but “fixed” it in the process of debugging without figuring out what actually caused it. None of my other accounts or those of our devs working on it could duplicate.

    I’ll let you know when we figure it out.
