New post did not appear under my Reader , weekly photo challenge or other tags

  1. I just published a new post on weekly photo challenge, but it did not appear under my Reader, and so nobody will see it. A few did because they went to the Daily post, and mine is under Pingback.
It did not appear under any other of my tags too.
I have less than 15 tags.

The blog I need help with is speakingabouttravel2.wordpress.com.

  2. Will you please check out the reasons for non-appearance here >
http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts If you have assigned too many Categories/Tags to your posts, then you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

  3. Thank you. But it was alright before when it is less than 15 tags.

  4. I see you removed them now. You're welcome.

  5. Now that I have removed almost all the tags except two or three, it appeared under Post a week, which has no competition. It still does not appear under Weekly photo challenge. I suspect something technically wrong is happening. My other post just a day ago in my food blog, also got the same problem. It now appeared under post a week, but never appeared under Recipes, which most people go there. It appeared under my recipes, which is actually under categories. Again they do not appear under the major ones with many competing posts.

Would you kindly ask help from the engineer? Thanks.

  6. Hi again,
I flagged this thread for Staff help.

  7. Thank you!

  8. Once you remove the excess tags, it can take up to a week for your blog to be fully featured in the Reader again.

In the future, please make sure that you stick close to these guidelines: http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts

  9. I never used more than 15 if that is the rule. I just saw many of the other posts with ten or more tags and they are published 10 mins ago. So is the rule changed? If so, we need to know.
My blogs are not mature stuff...for sure .
If mine has to wait for a week or so under the same Weekly photo challenge, why did it appear under post a week immediately? If competing with others is a reason, why does it take a week?
I am only trying to understand and learn so that I will not fall into the same problem again.
I am not doing business , but just do this for fun. However I did recommend WordPress to many entities. We want to know we can more likely be searchable by searching engines. Tags are an important factor, certainly. But now, nobody will find my post, with so limited tags.

  10. We want to know we can more likely be searchable by searching engines. Tags are an important factor, certainly. But now, nobody will find my post, with so limited tags.

In fact search engines are focused on keywords in your content and not i your tags. The search spiders can detect whether or not your text contains the keywords you use as categories and tags or not. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/03/01/revisiting-keywords-and-tags/

  11. Thank you.
I still need to know what does the excessive tags mean, since i used less than 15 tags which are still within the limit. I need to understand this before I write my next post so that I will not face the same problems again. Thank you for your help.

  12. The answers tend to vary, but if you keep it to a dozen or less you should be okay.

  13. Thank you. In my case, I did have only 12 or less tags.

  14. The limit is currently 15 categories + tags, total. Previously, it was 10, but we increased it to 15.

I can't say if it will increase or decrease again. We may need to decrease it later to combat tag spammers, so I general feel that it's better to keep it below 10 if you're worried.

  15. Oh, tags and categories total= 15. Now I understand. Thanks.
I did not hacve categories before, but added them recently to help myself organizing the posts.
Thank you very much for the explanations.

  16. You're welcome!
