New Posts showing up on separate page from home / title font

  1. Hello,

    I am using the blogum theme and have custom design and have just started learning some css. I had a sample post in my blog so that I could see how the changes I made would be affecting any posts and I finally had my blog to a place where I felt ready to upload new posts.

    http://nudeandgrey.wordpress.com/

    1. Well, I took down my sample post and tried to post it again and for some reason when I previewed the blog, the recently uploaded post showed up on the site in a different format (the way it would look when clicking the title of the post and going to it's own page when I was modifying the blog). And then when I click "home" on the top menu below the title, it says "NOTHING FOUND."

    2. Also, when I put tags for my photos, they would show up on the left column of the post and run over each other where you could make out a word though it was obvious that text was overlapping each other. How can I make the tags show up on the bottom of the post as opposed to the side column beneath the date.

    3. I am trying to figure out a way to get my font to show up on other devices the way it shows up on mine (since I have the font on my computer and others won't) and am having no luck finding out how to, if it's possible to do on wordpress.com. anyfont and cufon are plug ins that I have had trouble with activating and I'm not even sure they are able to be used with wordpress.com. Are there any other solutions other than type kit?

    Thank you so much for your time!!!!!!

    The blog I need help with is nudeandgrey.wordpress.com.

    It sounds to me like you deleted a post and added back a page.

  5. 2. Also, when I put tags for my photos, they would show up on the left column of the post and run over each other where you could make out a word though it was obvious that text was overlapping each other. How can I make the tags show up on the bottom of the post as opposed to the side column beneath the date.

    That is happening for tags on your posts because you set every single tag link in the post-edit area (the area to the left of posts) with a left margin of -60px, and that makes it so every single link starts at the same position and they overlap.

    To fix it inside the sidebar, find this on your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    .post-data a,.comments-link a,.post-edit a {
    font-size:12px;
    border-bottom:none;
    padding-top:15px;
    color:#696969;
    text-decoration:none;
    margin-left:-60px;
    }

    Remove that block of code and replace it with this:

    .post-data a,.comments-link a,.post-edit a {
    font-size:12px;
    border-bottom:none;
    padding-top:15px;
    color:#696969;
    text-decoration:none;
    }
    .post-categories, .comments-link {
    margin-left: -60px !important;
    }

    Then if you would like to move the category links to the bottom of posts, also add this:

    .post-categories {
    position: absolute;
    bottom: 0;
    left: 220px;
    }

    Note that if you make future adjustments to post layout such as the bottom maring and padding for posts, you may also need to adjust the spacing for the category links to make sure no overlaps occur.

    There aren't any other font solutions compatible with WordPress.com at this time besides Typekit which comes with the Custom Design upgrade. You can use the Appearance → Custom Design → Fonts page to choose fonts and those will work on any browser or device listed at http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6786

  7. Thank you so much, you've really helped me again! I didn't realize about the duplicate post, so sorry!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll be good for now :)

  8. No worries! Cheers :)
