New Referrer "My Comments"

  1. I just had "My Comments" show up on my list of referrers. It is in the same blue text as a hyperlink (like some other referrers), but it isn't a hyperlink.

Just wondered what this is. Is it coming from one of my comments on another blog? If so, I'd prefer to actually know which blog it was, rather than that it is from a comment I made.

The blog I need help with is mindrenewers.com.

  2. If it is then Dashboard -> Comments I’ve Made page tracks comments you’ve made across WordPress.com so you can see when people reply to you. It will show your comment, one before yours, and replies after yours. The thread with the latest replies will be at top.

If it isn't then I can't explain why you have "My Comments" as a referrer in your stats. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#referrers

  3. Yes, I'm familiar with "Comments I've Made." At first, that is what I thought it was, but the "My Comments" in my referrers doesn't link to that. I've never seen this before, so thought it must be some new feature. (Of course, that leaves the developer's question unanswered, "Is this a bug or a feature?!")

Why don't you take a holiday and relax? Rarely do any of us need answers THAT quickly. Happy New Year to you, anyway! :)

  4. Happy New Year to you too. I have tagged this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when that happens.

  5. Yes, I'm subscribed. Thank you for your help, as always.

  6. You're welcome. :)

  7. ping :)

  8. Hi Jon,

    I think I get what you're saying - I haven't seen it before though!

Can you take a screenshot of it? I'd like to dig deeper, but I think I may need some visual support :)

    Cheers!

  9. I've got a screenshot of the Referrers box, but I'm not sure how to put it here. The classic ctrl-c / ctrl-v doesn't seem to be working for me....

  10. It sounds to me like someone was checking out the comments on his own dashboard, on the My Comments page, and saw a link to your site in there somewhere and clicked on it. Maybe he linked to you in a comment, or maybe he replied to someone who did.

  11. Interesting, raincoaster. That would make sense, because it has only happened once, and that theory sounds like something that wouldn't happen often.

Until I can figure out how to paste the screenshot here, it looks pretty much like this:
    Search Engines 28
    Facebook 2
    My Comments 1
    etc.

"My Comments" is in blue, but not underlined or a Hyperlink.

  12. What Raincoaster says sounds really likely.

For your own reference Jon, you can actually just add the file to your media gallery and include the link here - but if you're satisfied at this point, you don't have to :)

    Cheers!

  13. Thanks, I won't bother, I've marked the thread as resolved. You can go engineer happiness for someone else. :)

  14. Works for me :)

Just let us know if you need anything else!
