New Self-Hosted Bolg (migrated from .com) not showing up in WordPress reader

Greetings, I just migrated my wordpress.com site (deremerstudios.wordpress.com) to be self hosted (blog.deremerstudios.com - using Jetpack 3.1.1). I just published my first post since the move, but it is not appearing on the wordpress.com reader. I verified that I am subscribed to the blog and following all the posting guidelines, so I'm not sure why it isn't showing up. Any help with the following questions would be greatly appreciated:
    1. Why is my migrated blog not showing up on the reader?
    2. Is there any way for my self-hosted blog to appear on the reader for the entire wordpress community and not just those who have already subscribed?
Thanks for all the help - we love WordPress!

The blog I need help with is blog.deremerstudios.com.

  2. Self hosted WordPress.ORG sites are stand alone islands. No self hosted blogs are part of the WordPress.COM blogging community. Therefore the posts from them do not automatically appear in the WordPress.COM reader or on the WordPress.COM Topics (Categories and Tags) Pages.

  3. 2. Is there any way for my self-hosted blog to appear on the reader for the entire wordpress community and not just those who have already subscribed?

No. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi timethief - thanks for the speedy reply. In researching I had come across another post you had helped with - you must be quite busy!

I apologize, I must not have been clear. In regard to my first question, I have migrated my subscribers (including myself) and when I go into reader, it shows that I am subscribed to my blog (blog.deremerstudios.com), however my new post from that blog is not showing up in reader. I am concerned that this will be the case with my subscribers as well.

In regard to question 2, I was hoping that perhaps that had changed recently. Do you know why wordpress.com does not feature self hosted sites unless one is already subscribed to the blog?

Any help on that front would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Because they are not a part of WordPress.com.

If you want the benefits of the WP.com community, you have to be a part of the WP.com community. That only makes sense. If you want those benefits, as opposed to the benefits of WP.org, move back.
