The blog I need help with is simunye1.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello there,
I'll flag this thread so it gets moved to the Themes Forum and Staff will consider your request. There is no FTP access to wordpress.COM blogs and we cannot upload themes into them. Themes for wordpress.ORG installs are not coded to run on this software here at wordpress.com If Staff consider the theme you want to be accapetable it will be adpated so it can run on wordpress.COM software. In most cases that will mean that not all features in the WordPress.ORG version will be included. The only themes you can use are located here > Appearance > Themes

  3. Upgrade or not, in a wp.com blog you cannot install 3rd-party themes.

If you want a theme with a number of boxed post excerpts, the closest is Inuit Types:
    http://inuittypesdemo.wordpress.com/
(Can display more posts below the boxed ones or not, can be other colors instead of black.)

  4. Thanks timethief, I keep an eye on this. I like the fact that you can get as many pictures on one page with induvidual discriptions and color-coding as possible. In the meantime I'll check out if 'panaghiotisadam' suggestion will do the trick. Seeme like the closest to what I'm looking for, since I work a lot with photos and nnot all need to be big.
    Thanks to you both!
I keep this open till I know how Inuit Types suits me...

  5. You're welcome. I use the Inuit Types theme myself. :)

  6. Ok, I got it activated, but where do I find the function to change the post from 1 to 2 collums, please? Sorry I'm 60 years of age and new to this blogging. Thanks God for this forum...smile

  7. I just saw somebody using this in green, but the white was also agree, just lighter. But I can not find a background option to change the colour with this theme! Any advise? smile

  8. thanks a lot for your help, very much aprechiated...smile

  9. @simunye1

But I can not find a background option to change the colour with this theme!

See here please . Appearnce > Themes > Theme Options
Under "Color scheme" in the drop down menu you have 6 choices you can make there. None of those include the option of being able to upload your own background. If you want the ability to change backgound colors or to use an image as a background then you will have to purchase a CSS upgrade.

Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

  10. Thanks again, but I'm not good enough with PC's to even know what CSS means, so I guess it is better to stick with what is available without buying anything.

  11. Yes, if you don't have experience then editing a theme's CSS file would indeed be a huge challenge. :)

P.S. Did you know that we can all chnge the size of the font/text on any website we visit on the interent? I'm visually challenged and I have to use reduce the size of the font on the blog linked to your username in order to read it. I hold down the CTRL key and click - (the minus sign) on my kepyboard to make it smaller. For me it's just too big.

Best wishws with your blog. :)

  12. COOOOOOL, thanks for that tip. I guess this works in the reverse too, since sometimes I have problems reading because the letters are to smal for me. You are a STAR....
