New Widgets for 2012?

  1. Was wondering if anyone from wordpress would like to share if their are any new upcoming widgets coming out this year.
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is yankeesfansunite.wordpress.com.

  2. Staff does not usually share what their plans for updates are. There may be new widgets this year, but we volunteers are not privy to such information. Is there a widget you are interested in having?

  3. Not really off the top of my head was just merely curious.

Thanks for your quick response. Enjoy the New Year.

    Cheers.

  4. can we get video gallary widget with full page? Damn i need it. Looking for this -video gallary widget---http://alquranandmodernscience.wordpress.com/

I'm looking for a widget thats like signing a guest book. Is there one or can someone maybe work on one? Name, location and date of signature would be great. Just a way of tracking those who want to be tracked.

  7. WordPress has just released a Milestone Countdown widget. I'm using it on my site to countdown to Chinese New Year. Pretty neat stuff especially useful for a number of important occasions.

  8. Anything from wordpres I say spectacular. One day without wordpress, life is lonely.

  9. @shimworld
I'm not using the Milestone countdown widget yet but I do plan to in the future for several important dates.

  10. Hello bloggers,

I have a question for all of you. If WordPress does not allow Adsense or Adword on yourblog.wordpress.com so that you could not earn money from those ads, then why do you blog on this website. Why do you not choose Blogger.com?

  11. @umeedthehope
This thread is about WordPress.com widgets and you have posted off-topic. I will answer you but please don't post off-topic again, okay?

Years ago when I was at Blogger I found I was surrounded by bloggers who had little mastery of the English language and who were obsessed with making cents from Adsense. They had swallowed hook, line and sinker the "make a million online bait". Well, Adsense does not ever cut a check until there are enough ad clickers to rack up $100. one cent at a time. I also observed the HUGE number of splogs, no original content, plagiarized content, and scraper created content, and automated content blogspot splogs there were blogs and decided to look for a better place to blog. I found WordPress.com. Unlike the minority who blog for an income I am among the majority who blog as a hobby.

Hobbyist: The backbone of the blogosphere, and representing 60% of the respondents to this survey, Hobbyists say that they “blog for fun” and do not report any income. Half of hobbyists prefer to express their “personal musings” when blogging. 60% indicate they spend less than three hours a week blogging, yet half of hobbyists respond individually to comments from readers. Because 72% blog to speak their minds, their main success metric is personal satisfaction (61%).

I discovered that WordPress.com software was superior to .blogspot software. The themes and templates there throw over 300 HTML mark-up and CSS errors right out of the box. My Blogger blogs there are only for testing purposes.

  12. @umeedthehope...peace yeap i also agree we have blog in wordpress which have really good traffic perday more then 500 people vivite in my blog i want to add adscence but alas it not allowed:(

  13. Hello timethief,

Thanks for responding to my query. You have mentioned that I was bit off topic, but in fact I was thinking about the widgets, specially earning widgets and keeping live feed traffic track. As these options are not shown on my blog dashboard, so I decided to post on your question to know if its not a platform where you could also earn some money out of your work, so what should be another options.

I agree that majority of the people do blogging for fun, but for some time is money, and since we spend time doing this, I think one must be rewarded for it too.

@sharearazam: Now its clear that if you wish to maintain your blog for your personal satisfaction or just for fun then you can carry on with it and do not expect to earn something out of it.

Thanks everyone for your time and useful tips.

    Asif.

WordPress.com terms of use allow advertising of services and/or products that you create. I'm a full-time professional photographer and my blog showcases my portfolio to the entire internet community — a community of present and prospective clients. That's my way of getting "rewarded" for the time and effort I invest put in.

Note the following information has nothing to do with widgets. The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, soon to be replaced with the WordAds program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

  16. Your blog does not get enough page views monthly to qualify for acceptance into the soon to be launched WordAds program. The WordAds program is not for new blogs. It's for high traffic blogs and yours will not qualify for it until you have the required traffic stats. The blog must have 20,000 page views per month or more to be considered for submission and acceptance. Please read the comments as well as the announcement http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/wordads/

  17. @timethief thanks if i exceed 20,000 page views per month hope word press authority will consider allow us to add coz you know money talks! thanks for nice info. I was thinking jump to blogger but for your response i could with with hope:)
