News Tag Link on All Posts

  1. Hello ... on my website

    http://stonewalljets.wordpress.com/

At the bottom of every post there is a link to 'news', now I thought that if anyone clicked that link it would take them to a page listing all of the 'news' stories like the category link does in my sidebar ... but it goes to this link ...

    http://wordpress.com/tag/news/

Why does it go to a different location?

    Thanks

  2. > Why does it go to a different location?

    because Matt wants it so.

  3. Tags that you put on your posts and display in the post metadata go into the wordpress.com global tag system. If you want to have a link to a news site, then you would need to put it at the end of your posts, or in a link or text widget in the sidebar.

  4. tsp, the OP doesn't want "to have a link to a news site".

what he does want, indeed, is that his category links go local, he's just baffled by the wordpress.com Tagegories behaviour. no wander, though.

as this is an irrepairable "feature" of wordpress.com, he would actually need to move to Blogger, LiveJournal, Vox etc to have his categories behave as he would expect them, and not like staff wants him to, due to their interests.

  5. Apologies, this is slightly offtopic: Options/anyone: Using the CSS upgrade is it possible to change that on a post to get it to use local categories? Or some other way round it?

  6. > Using the CSS upgrade is it possible to change that on a post to get it to use local categories?

only on theme that have aprorpiate CSS selectors, otherwise see forum topic.

anyway, you'd rather be able merely to hide them from eyeballs staring at the CCS aware browser and this would be kinda royal PITA.

and, no, it is not possible to change that they go local -- it's on the lower, theme markup level, which is uneditable on .com; not on the style (CSS) level.
