NextGEN Gallery Plugin

  1. We want our guests to be able to upload their photo's to our wedding blog but I can't see how else to allow this without a plugin like NextGen.
    Any ideas gratefully received!

The blog I need help with is ourbigfatarabwedding.com.

  2. You could make them all Contributors; otherwise, there's no real way to directly upload them to the blog.

You could create a Flickr group and have them upload them there, and then you could use the Post To WordPress function on Flickr to post them to your blog.

  3. I think I will go with the Flickr idea and have created a group.

Inviting everyone to become a member and then setting them as Contributors is so long winded. It's just so frustrating as I had assumed when I created the blog nearly two years ago that it would be relatively straight forward... Thank you for your reply and confirming my thoughts!

  4. Sites where "anyone" can upload things have enormous security problems and are quite expensive to run.

  5. That's not to mention that the spammers and porno peddlers are able to post their junk to them. Imagine waking up and looking at your blog and seeing the kind of crap has been posted to it that has a negative effect on your blog's authority and pagerank and your visitors have been exposed to that distasteful rubbish.

You could make them all Contributors; otherwise, there's no real way to directly upload them to the blog.

A contributor does not have the ability to upload files/images. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#contributor

  6. Thanks - you are right! Have been so focused on how to share photos that I had overlooked these obvious complications. Hopefully the Flickr Group will work for us.
