Hi.
I am running a blog for some people and we need to add some photo galleries. On our previous blog we used the NextGen Galleries as a plug in. In the new wordpress there is no plugin button and so I cannot find nextGen galleries.
Is there a way to add galleries in wordpress 2.3.1 or not.

Do you have a self hosted wordpress. org blog? If so then go to the correct forum http://wordpress.org/support/
Since you are self-hosted and using the software downloaded from wordpress.org, you need to direct your question to http://wordpress.org/support/ . WordPress.com uses a multi-user version of the software which is different and few, if any, here know anything about it.

There are no plugins in wordpress.com blogs. You can confirm this in the first place to look the FAQs http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/27/can-i-upload-my-own-plugins/

I quick look over your issues indicates to me that your needs would probably be far better served by hiring a web host (quality web hosting is inexpensive) and downloading a blog template from http://wordpress.org
There are wordpress.org themes that do provide for photo gallery plugins. But we do not have this ability at wordpress.com.
