Nick - are you still here??? I need your help again

  1. People are being discouraged from leaving comments because it comes up that they need to enter their name and address and email. Can we remove that so they can just post a comment without having to enter any information? I posted to the forum and got a response that I can go into settings and discussion and change the settings. The settings are already unchecked for the two that say they should log in or enter email information but it still comes up. The forum also said something about using a widget which I don't know a thing about. I am hoping that you can once again help me out. Thank You...........Tina

No you cannot. There is no ability to do this.

This page > Settings > Discussion is where you set up defaults for comments.

    Discussion Settings
    Other comment settings
_Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
_Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Note that the prompt will still appear but providing an email address and logging in are not required. You can post instructions for your visitors in a text widget if you wish. That's easy to do. You copy and paste this into a text widget:

Readers: Note that the email address and logging in prompts do appear for comments but providing an email address and logging in are not required.

See here and read about how to set up a text widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

P.S. Do be sure to set up full comment moderation ie. "An administrator must always approve the comment" because anonymous commenting is bound to increase the amount of spam your blog will receive.

I don't buy that at all. Anyone can get a throwaway email address and most bloggers do use them.
