Yeh but even when I change the name under "nickname" in "my profile" it does not appear either on my blog or in the "Hello, X" part of the dashboard.

Are you inputting the name in the "Display name publicly as" field then clicking update and the bottom of the page ?
If you have been then your next step is to contact staff directly so they can look into the matter further than what us volunteers can
