No answer from support after 5 days re: domain name transfer

  1. I emailed support a few times over the past 5 days, asking for help transferring the domain name I already own to wordpress. (I closed the account w/former host, who insists WordPress needs to do the transfer.) I inclded my domain name and auth code in the messages, and I haven't heard back from WordPress support. When I sent a message before regarding a technical question someone replied within the hour. After 5 days, I'm wondering what's going on, and I can't find a nunber for phone support. (frustrating!)

    The blog I need help with is moriahdensley.wordpress.com.

  2. When we create a support ticket by contacting Staff it’s important to understand they have a backlog. They deal with the support tickets with the earliest dates first. So if we contact them more than once of the same issue the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help.

  3. Timethief--Thank you! It's lovely to hear from someone.

    I tried but couldn't map the domain, it's stuck in limbo since I closed the account with the former host. They say WordPress has to do it. That's the first time I've seen the bit about WordPress not accepting domain transfers. Thanks for that, it explains a lot.

    I contacted former host, and they're befuddled about the "no transfer" policy at WordPress. I ended up reopening the account with my former host and activiating domain hosting just to solve the problem. Ideally, WordPress changes the transfer policy so I only have to deal with one provider.

  5. I'm sorry, but we are not able to accept incoming domain transfers.

    You'll need to either keep the domain with your current registrar or transfer it to another registrar, then you can map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
