   Hi - I managed to move my self hosted wordpress blog to wordpress.com with no problems and point my domain http://www.inlovewithlisbon to here. Once that was done I deleted my wordpress from my old host's server. I've noticed that I'm not getting any email now to my @inlovewithlisbon address. I'm assuming this is because the DNS now points to here at wordpress.com rather than my old host?

   I have read http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/ but I didn't understand a word of it!
   I purchased my domain from a different company to where my old site was hosted. I've looked at the mail setting there but it says I would have to change my nameservers to that company in order to use the email facility so now I'm really confused!

   Can someone please help me to get my email back?

   The blog I need help with is inlovewithlisbon.com.

   This is not a complete URL http://www.inlovewithlisbon it's missing a .com, .net etc. Please provide the complete URL for the domain.

   Then please note the instructions provided here for updating the nameserversand mapping an existing domain > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

   WordPress.com does not provide an email service. Please see here > Setting Up Email with Google Apps

   Hi - Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I left out the full address because I didn't want to look spammy. It's http://inlovewithlisbon.com

   As I said, I didn't understand the instructions on that page you mentioned.

   So, if wordpress.com doesn't provide a mail service - how to I get back my original email address? The instructions in http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/ seem to suggest it's possible to set this up somehow but I don't understand it.

   I followed through on the Google Apps but I still cannot set up [email redacted]
   Initially I couldn't use that in the sign up process as that email address has been in use with Google before (I've had this address a long time so used it on a number of sites).

   I have verified my site with Google and used just [email redacted] to set up the Google App, added a user as [email redacted] and set that as super administrator. I tried deleting [email redacted] as super administrator but it won't let me.

   I wondering if anyone else has had this problem or can advise me. I really just want to get my email address back.

   Like TT said, Wp.com doesn't provide an email service. You can do this:

   http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/

   Other than that we cannot help you.

   Hi there,
   I have a similar problem, I have changed my primary domain to a self owned domain (stephanielampe.nl) and cannot get the email on this domain to work. The issue is the changes/edits I need to make in the wordpress DNS. So no google apps, but a self owned domain.

   I have followed all steps on http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns. However, this is to high level for me... I added in my wordpress admin/domain settings the following DNS record for the mailserver from my hosting provider:
   MX 10 mail.stephanielampe.nl.

   I hope someone could help me out as I am trying to get things to work for a few hours now. Thnx!

   I'm going to try and help you seeing as people have been kind enough to try to help me...I can't promise I can figure it out but I'll try.

   ok - I just checked your website and can see that it's hosted here at WordPress.com
   Wordpress.com doesn't provide a facility to have an email address even if you own your domain. You have to go to Google Apps for that. I also have my own domain pointed to here but I had to use Google apps to get my email address.

   You say you added the record from the hosting provider but your hosting provider is currently wordpress.com?

   Can I ask where you got the record MX 10 mail.stephanielampe.nl from?
