No Items Found Message When I Try to Create Gallery

  1. I added about 15 word docs to my blog and want to create galleries for numerous pages--each with a selection of these docs. When I open a page/subpage, click on Add Media, I see the docs on the screen. But when I click on Create Gallery, I get the message No Items Found. I'm using word docs (as opposed to images) because I'm trying to create an online writing portfolio/freelance writer website. I have another website (an artist website), for which I created galleries with little difficulty. I'm at a loss and would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is oestcommunication.com.

  2. What you are trying will not work. In order to create a gallery in any post or page you have to upload the individual images into the post or page. Then they will be hosted on WordPress.com servers and will appear in your Media Library.

  3. Uploading documents
See here for accepted file types http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/ The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/

    Embedding documents
If you want to embed the document itself into a post, then you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs.

  4. Thank you, again, for the response. I believe I added the docs to the media library while I was editing the parent page. They are in the media library; I just can't seem to create a gallery with them. I was, however, able to get a doc onto the page as a link (I think by clicking attach or insert at the lower right-hand portion of the edit window). That is a workable solution for me. It may be that Word docs don't work for Galleries.

  5. That is a workable solution for me.

I'm glad you were able to find a workable solution. Best wishes with your blogging.
