  1. I posted my first YouTube video on my second post. I followed the instructions on the WordPress to copy and paste a YouTube link onto the Post Editor. I did this and after publishing the second post, all I am seeing is just the link and not the You Tube video. Here is the link for my second post:

http://specialspice.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/long-live-the-heels/ (Please look under "Or an Obsession?")

Where is the video? Why am I only seeing the link on the post?

The blog I need help with is specialspice.wordpress.com.

  2. The Support docs are not sufficient in this case. To do a youtube embed, use the shortcode. That simply always works.\
    [youtube=URLfromBrowserBar] will work.

  3. Thank you Raincoaster. I followed the instructions from WordPress to copy and paste but I did not realise that it doesnt work......

  4. Please use the youtube shortcode like raincoaster advised. It works every time for me and it's so easy to do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode

  5. I have embedded a Youtube video on my blog but it does not seem to play properly. It shows up but you cannot play it:

  6. @abh1wordpress
I can clearly view the video in that post using Firefox 12 and that means you probably have a browser issue. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
    confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
    trying another browser

If those do not work for you then we need to know
    (1) how you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com. The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    (2) exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

  7. Thank you for the quick reply.

That's a long answer but leaves me kind of sad because any reader and viewer of the video out there could have the same "browser" problem. Maybe the short answer is that you can't reliably post video on WordPress and expect it to work.

  8. I reliably post videos with zero problems. My PC is 4 years old and equipped with IE8 which I don't use and I cannot upgrade to IE9 as it runs on windows XP. I use Firefox 12 and have had zero problems.

  9. Hello abh1wordpress. Did you change anything? I just clicked on your video and I am seeing it perfectly. Just thought you would like to know that I am using Internet Explorer 9........

  10. Browser problems mean their COMPUTER has problems, not that WordPress.com or YouTube does. if they have browser problems that prevent them from seeing YouTUbe videos, that affects all the platforms on which they might view YouTube videos. You can, in short, reliably post YouTube videos on WordPress.com. You can't fix every one of your readers' computers.

  11. I didn't change anything. I posted the video as directed:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode

However, I was not seeing it play on my own Safari browser, but it did play on Chrome. I have no idea why.

Thank you all for your help.

    Andy
