Northern Voice Blogging Conference

    I'm saving up for the next wordcamp as I would like to be there.

    I can actually budget one vacation a year seperate from what I get every month. That and I could probably pass it off as a business trip and get my own hosting to pay for it.

    Just need to know a head of time so I can budget.

    It's too bad I got dropped off their mailing list; they had travel bursaries that you guys could have used, but it's too late for them now.

    What's this, I hear? Travel bursaries ... sheesh ... I didn't have a clue.
    Mailing list? How does one get on it?
    If the next wordpress camp is on the west coast I might be able to swing it with a little help from friends.

    Go to their website and there's a place to sign up for the mailing list. Northern Voice (and Moosecamp) is at UBC in Vancouver. There are always blogging get-togethers going on in Silicon Valley (how retro to call it that!).

    Or better still bursaries to travel to the conference and be interviewed by him?

    I'm going to suggest that they look at billets and travel co-ops in the future; a lot of people make these kinds of arrangements on their own, but it would be a good idea to facilitate that with something on the wiki. Again, if they've already got it in place, I can't find it.

    Also, I'm thinking about giving a talk at Moosecamp. What do you think of:

    So, explain to me why working for money is good and working for social outreach is bad. Cuz I don't get that point of view at all.

    Sorry, I'm cranky lately. Been getting a lot of crap from people who think nothing of slaving away for 40 years at something they hate, just because it gives them money. I do this for three hours a day and I get to reach out and touch anywhere from 800-4000 people. And I love it.

    There are those who don't get that. But there are enough of them that do, that I think it's got an audience.

    A couple of hundred at least, although none of me. Check out his Flickr account.

    There are over 4500 pictures from that two day conference on Flickr alone. I can't find the picture of my shoes that I'm looking for, dammit!

    Just go to Flickr.com and type in "northernvoice" in the searchbox. It's crazy, the sheer number of pix they have up. Lloyd's username there is his screen name here, so his shots are easy to find.

    I can only find one picture of me, and I look fat, so no way are you seeing it.
