Not Enough Traffic

    I have had a blog on WordPress.com for over 2 years, but I have an average of just 2 views per day. I don't update it as much as I should, but I still update it several times a month. The fact that my blog doesn't have a focus (just news in general) could be an issue, but that can't be the reason why I don't get enough traffic.

    Am I one of the few who don't get enough traffic? Or has this happened to many of you too? Please give me some tips on how to get more traffic. Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is iano10.wordpress.com.

    In blogging content is king and marketing AKA blog promotion is queen. If you write optimized high quality original content and promote it then the result may be an increase in organic traffic, or not. If it’s not easy to locate your content in search engines then there will be no increase in new traffic. Thus, what determines success is two things:

    * whether or not your content is found, and
    * whether or not the readers who do find it become subscribers.

    Sorry - I see no reason to visit your site - you are a Northwest Sports Fan - OK - but all I see are one and two sentence headline Posts - "Seasquaks loose 20 - 10 how embarrassing" - no meat - no real reason to read that - as @timethief says - "Content is King"

    I did visit you site so you will get a bump -

    You need to give me a reason to visit your site.

    Learning how to effectively promote a blog internally within the wordpress.com community and beyond "the wordpress.com garden wall" is critical to it's success. Adopting the "build it and they will come" notion is rarely effective.

    "Several times a month".

    You must be joking. The internet is like high school; you've gotta put out to be popular, a thought also expressed by: the internet is like a sewer: what you get out of it depends on what you put into it. Do you go to the internet twice a month? Do you go to your favorite sites only twice a month?

    @raincoaster - the count is a bit high - two Posts in November for a sports site.

    Well, November's a busy month...we have better things to do than follow playoffs, right?

    The ideas should get you started on making your blog more successful.
    Take a look at the Showcase forum as well to see how others promote their blogs.
