   I'm new to wordpress but have been using all the tutorials etc to get to grips with it. Today I was talking to two friends who are also wordpress users who began to follow my blog - but I've had no notification pop up or notification email. I've checked the email settings and they're all correct, and my email address is verified.

   When I click onto the notifications page I'm unable to see any there - even though I know my friends have followed me. I've checked and my browser is up to date - what else could it be/how do I fix this? I'd really like to get notifications!

   There are two main types of email notifications that you’ll receive from WordPress.com.
   The email address you used when registering your WordPress.com account is listed in:

   the Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page, or
   Users -> Personal Settings in your dashboard

   Have you checked your email client spam filter?
   What if the emails aren't getting through? http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/#what-if-the-emails-arent-getting-through

   Have you confirmed your settings here > Settings > Discussion
   E-mail me whenever
   _Anyone posts a comment
   _A comment is held for moderation
   _Someone likes one of my posts
   _Someone reblogs one of my posts
   _Someone follows my blog

   Thanks for your reply - I have actually checked these settings and it still hasn't worked. I did receive an email notification about your reply - but still have nothing in the actual notifications part of the wordpress site.
