bobsplatesHello, i just created a blog a few days ago, and i have checked the box (under discussion settings) to receive emails when someone follows my blog, however, i am not receiving those emails (my email address is correct and I have received emails to moderate comments). My stats section indicates i do have a few followers.

Hello - thank you. Yes, I've been checking my spam/junk folder, and they haven't shown up there. I'm wondering if the notifications of followers are only sent for the "wordpress-user" followers, and not the "email followers" that haven't signed up for wordpress?

Yes, notifications for email followers are currently not being sent. We are only sending notifications for WordPress.com followers at this time.
