Not sending full blog text to email followers

  1. Currently my entire blog post is sent in an email to my email followers. This is preventing those followers from visiting my page and decreasing my page views.

I'd like to give email subscribers only a summary, but still allow RSS subscribers to view the full text (since syndicated page views show up in my stats). There doesn't seem to be a way of doing these two things simultaneously.

    Is there a solution?

The blog I need help with is extracreditlife.com.

  2. Hi there,
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed go here > Settings > Reading
and choose the "summary" setting for your RSS feed or the "full text".

That does not affect the length of the post displayed on the front page or main page for posts on the blog. To create excerpts there we can split content by inserting "the more tag" http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  3. But I specifically asked if I could change the text in the email sent out to my email followers from full text to a summary.

I want to keep my RSS feed as full text but change what is sent out to my email followers to only a summary.

  4. No, you can't do that. The email is based on the RSS feed, and whatever form the latter takes is what gets sent to all subscribers, email or otherwise.

  5. That's not possible because what's sent out is what's in the feed.

    waving :)

  7. When my email followers view the blog in their email, does it count as a page view (regular or syndicated)?

I'm really only concerned about page views, so it if it counts, it's fine.

  8. No, it doesn't count as a pageview. Only people who see the blog on the web outside the reader and emails count as views.
