Oddity withe ‘Light’ theme

    Not sure whether I’m missing a trick, but…

    I’m using the ‘Light’ theme by Stephen Reinhardt. Looks good and all going well, but I find it odd that comments get the name of the commentator added to them, but main blog posts don’t get the name of the author/originator added to them?

    I’m testing all this at the moment, but made a spoof wordpress user and can login in as him and post. But neither ‘him’ (as an author) or me (as the blog owner/admin) get our names appended to the blog posts.

    Just seems odd that this does happen when we comment on each others posts!!

    Surely it’s important to know who the author is!

    But as I say, I maybe missing a trick?….

    There are actually a lot of themes that don’t display the author’s name with the post.

    Yes, it’s final. WP.com uses the themes pretty much the way the designer designed them. You might want to take a look around the forums for solutions; there are several threads about this, for various themes, but the workarounds are pretty universal.

    I couldn’t find any workarounds despite a search…

    Oh well, just have to use another theme. So I chose Contempt (can also replace the header image)

    There’s always a trade-off, though, isn’t there!…less legible text and some silly thing called a ‘permalink…which is just the same link as the title of the post (link)!! So what’s that there for?

    Swings and roundabouts, I guess!

    Search for the theme you’re using with the key phrase “CSS”

    Have the authors/contributors put a byline at the beginning of each of their posts. You can also use the author’s widget, which will list all the authors and contributors, and if the reader clicks on the author’s name in the widget, they will get a listing of all that author’s posts.

    No, can’t find any workarounds, guess there aren’t any. Thanks for the suggestions, sacred, but really want the ‘by so and so’ under the post title.

    Oh well, worse things happen at sea! We are a hard lot to please, aren’t we! We have somethiung free which does 95% of what we want perfectly…and we carp about the missing 5. Customers, eh, who’d ‘ave ’em!

    ps. out of interest….

    In the ‘Contempt’ theme I changed the header to my own photographic background (nicely photoshopped and low weight jpg)

    Well, the blog loads pretty pronto…but it takes a whopping 15+ seconds for the header graphic to appear!

    And that’s on a broadband connection download c.3.5mbps.

    !!!! scary! Why the loooooooong delay?
