Off to a bad start

  1. I just created my account today. At some point in the process, a page appeared that had a box to enter a title and a box to enter a post. I began typing and typed for about 20 minutes. There was a Finish button at the bottom of the page. I clicked it. When the next page came up there was no trace of my post. Gone, can't be found. I'm done playing with WordPress for today.

The blog I need help with is differenceofsquares.wordpress.com.

  2. I found the specific problem. I went back a few pages and noticed that in Step 6 of the setup process, WordPress encourages you to create your first post. Yippee! There is a tab at the bottom that says Publish Post (very faint colors on my screen) and then a big bold FINISH button below that. Probably should have hit the Publish Post button rather than the FINISH button. Still frustrating and I'm calling it a bug. Please save future newbies the frustration and redesign Step 6. Thanks! (note, I'm now being very cautious of which button I hit to submit this comment)

  3. You might want to have a look at this:

    learn.wordpress.com

  4. Sorry, that didn't post as a link, I'll try again!

    http://learn.wordpress.com/

  5. I will, but still frustrated. Step 6 needs to be re-engineered.

  6. I don't recall seeing a 'Finish' button. Would you please confirm that the blog you're asking about is

    http://differenceofsquares.wordpress.com

  7. 6 step setup does not sound like a WordPress.COM blog -

For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Just a suggestion - I always hit the Save Draft button as soon as I get a title for a blog Post - that should start the timed auto save - and I also save early and often

  8. Here is a screen capture from the page (Step 6 @ WordPress.com):
    https://picasaweb.google.com/102821721547649313908/October202012#5801458862745762146

When I went this time, the button at the bottom says NEXT (instead of FINISH as I saw earlier).

  9. The link does not work for the screen shot

  10. That's the quick post screen. You would do better to post via the dashboard. And I wonder if this is the same problem that a lot of people are currently having with the post error messages.
