Older Posts link disappeared on my blog

  1. Up until recently I was having no problem with the theme installed on my blog, Twenty Ten.

One day I noticed that the Older Posts and Newer Posts links were now missing from the bottom of my page, which is bothering me greatly.

As I am using a WordPress.COM theme, I'm unable to dig in the php to find out what's wrong and it's driving me crazy.

    Any help would be amazing!
    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is twincatblog.wordpress.com.

  2. We cannot access the PHP files in our templates at wordpress.com. This is a multiuser blogging platform. All blogs wearing the same theme are using the same template and only Staff can edit themes and templates as every edit affects all blogs wearing the same theme. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

P.S. I did not check deep into your blog your blog. There were far too many posts with too many large images on the front page and I got tired of waiting for the page to load. I suggest you reduce the number of posts appearing on your front page here > Settings > Reading, and also insert "the more tag" into your posts so only excerpts appear on the front page of the blog as page loading time is a page ranking factor, and people simply will click out rather than waiting for the page to load. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  3. Your older/newer links do show up at the top of your pages:

But not at the bottom. Do you have the CSS upgrade?

  4. panaghiotisadam, I do have the CSS upgrade. Any ideas on how to get it to show at the bottom of the page too? Cheers

  5. @twincatblog
Excuse me. I'm just posting to let you know I have flagged this thread so our Moderators move it to the CSS Forum for you as we now know you have the CSS editing upgrade.

  6. I have limited bandwidth wireless internet connection and until you set your blog to only show a couple posts maximum, I will not be responding and helping you move this stuff.

Search engines take page loading times into account when calculating search engine ranking, and they will absolutely toss your site down a deep well.

When you have set your site to only show a couple posts per page, post back here and I'll help you move the next/previous links.

  7. And you need to optimize your images for the web before uploading them. Having 600k images will drive people away. They simply won't wait for your site to load.

Individual images should never be more than 75k in file size when uploaded.

  8. And actually, set your blog to display only 1 post per page. The first post has tons of images with big file sizes.

  9. Agree with thesacredpath.

  10. The More Tag can also help to make the front page cleaner:

  11. #nav-below {display:block;}

  12. @halluke, you're a legend, thank you so much!
