I have been blogging for almost 3 years.
Been learning the software- the last two weeks - I am only seeing HTML choice for entering a new post-
I am unable to have the other - where I can pick styles, color, bold, underline, header 1, 2, 3
anyone seeing this? Am I nuts.

Sorry, volunteers here in the forums don't email and it is a really bad idea to put your email address on an public forum. Spammers will flood you with offers for all sorts of strange things.
In your dashboard, go to users > your profile and make sure that "Disable the visual editor when writing" is NOT selected. If it is change it and then click "update profile."
In the post or page editor there will be two tabs at the top right of the editor window with "visual" and "HTML" on them. Make sure you are in the "visual" tab.
If you only see one row of buttons in the visual editor, then click on the one on the far right end (kitchen sink) and it will bring up another row below with a style pulldown and color selector. Bold, underline, italic etc are on the top row of buttons.
