Is it possible to embed a forum in a wordpress.com website?
If not, is it possible to link to a separate forum site fairly seamlessly from a wordpress.com website?
If so, what is the best (and most spam free) forum to use?
I read this 2-year-old discussion but the replies seem to be ambiguous.
The blog I need help with is tridentlottie.wordpress.com.
It is not possible to embed a forum on a WP.com blog. You can LINK to a forum, if you've got one hosted elsewhere.

You would link to the 3rd party forum site using custom menus option.
If you're using a theme that doesn't support top navigation you can use the custom menus widget
