Oxygen Theme Side Menu Color

  1. I am using the Oxygen theme and want to change the background color of the side menu. Currently it is black. I had previously seen a post on this by thesacredpath, but can't find it now. Thesacredpath, if you see this, I hope you can redirect me to your previous post or help me with this.

    Other information: My blog is set to private. I have the CSS upgrade.

  2. I have flagged this thread so it will be moved to the CSS Forum where you can get help with your CSS editing. Is this the blog you purchased the custom design upgrade for? [blog URL removed]

  3. Thanks, timethief, for moving the thread. Could you please remove my blog address from your post as I don't want it published on the support forum.

  4. I'm sorry but we Volunteers cannot edit, close or move threads. Only Moderators and Staff can do that and they will do that when they move this thread. Your username is linked to the blog, which is private, and anyone clicking your username will locate the private blog but not be able to view it.

  5. I specifically did not post my blog address because I don't want it indexed to the support forums by search engines. I actually hesitated to post a question here for that reason and made a point to say that my blog is private.

  6. As I stated above the blog is linked to your username and that's how I located it.

  7. But that didn't mean you had to publish it in a forum posting, and that is my point.

  8. The "black box" is a secondary menu. You have to create a custom menu and then assign that menu to the secondary menu location

    I did search the forums but I cannot find any CSS threads wherein the CCS code for changing the black background in that secondary menu box on Oxygen has been posted.

  9. Howdy analyticspro and timethief,

    The URL has been removed from timethief's reply above and the thread moved to the css customizations forum.

    Thanks

  10. @jkudish
    Thanks so much for taking care of this.

  11. Thanks jkudish.

    Non-hover/non-active color:

    .menu-secondary li a {
    background: #111111;
    }

    Hover/active color:

    .menu-secondary li a:hover {
    background: #000000;
    }
  13. Thanks thesacredpath, that did the trick.

    One question, I now have a black line separating each menu item. I used inspect element to look at the code, but it seems that the border is set to none. On the other hand, I don't know CSS. Is there another setting I can make?

    Thanks again for your help.

    The bottom border for the menu items is set here:

    .menu-secondary li {
    border-bottom: 1px solid #252525;
    }
  15. That did it! Thanks again thesacredpath.
