Pages and Links when importing from Posterous?
-
My Pages and Links seem to have disappeared when I run the import from Posterous
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Please note the sticky post (yellow) banner at the head of the forum for people with Posterous imports.
-
-
There is a contact us link in the banner. Please use it as we Volunteers cannot help. You need Staff help and that’s how you get it.
-
That link sends you through the support process and then finishes by suggesting you “ask the community”.
I’m grateful for your help, but I’m finding the process of trying to migrate pretty frustrating right now!
-
RATS! I’m so sorry. That link looping back to this forum is not helpful – it’s aggravating!
I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Staff are currently at a meetup and monitoring these threads. They may not get to this thread before next week.

Thanks for trying to help, timethief. I’ve had the same experience as mrulsterscot, and I suspect a few others have as well.
-
Staff are able to locate all the Posterous threads easily, so thanks for not bumping them.
-
Is http://gilnahirk.wordpress.com/ the blog you’re referring to?
If so, would you please try the import one more time? It won’t duplicate anything, but it will probably pick up what it missed. If that does nothing, try getting a fresh export file out of Posterous and give that a shot.
-
I tried the import again but Pages and other items aren’t being picked up. I am now requesting a new backup from Posterous and will try again.
Trying to move the site isn’t proving to be simple!
-
Sorry for the trouble! :(
Please let us know how it goes with a fresh backup from Posterous. If it doesn’t work out, we can try importing into an new/empty blog to see if that makes any difference and go from there.
-
The Posterous Backup does not include the Pages and WordPress makes that clear in the Known Issues
However I have written a Posterous to WordPress page export using the API’s provided. Give it a go
Hope this is helpful for anyone else who thought they would be stuck manually migrating a load from pages in Posterous.
