Pages are Sporadically changing order, or not showing up at all

  1. So myself and and another friend of mine are having the same issue of our pages displaying in incorrect order, or not displaying at all. I should add that this happens sporadically, too. I have followed the attributes section to a "T" and am only contacting support because the WordPress forum I was looking at suggested I do so if none of that was working. I have tried clearing my browser's cache and cookies twice as well, and that did not work.

This is the first time I have ever had an issue with this happening. Can you give any insight into this matter?

I am using the 2011 theme. Thanks

The blog I need help with is anorcslife.wordpress.com.

  2. Okay, something is seriously messed up here. I went as far as trashing two pages that were moving around wildly, and now they're back, displaying on my blog. I trashed them!! They don't even show up on my page list under dashboard. WTF?

  3. Hey kitdoctor, I too am having the same problem with pages vanishing then suddenly reappearing....and like you, never in the same order????

    frustrating to say the least!

I am also having the same problems. I deleted a page then added three more. Sometimes the three main pages show up, but most of the time they don't appear at all. Also the page I deleted shows up even after I "trashed" it. I don't think the problem is with my theme, because my theme supports page (tabs) on top....and they new pages/tabs have appeared already. They just tend to disappear randomly...

  5. This is a very bizarre occurrence. I'm hoping somebody has a fix. However, my page order has been okay for the past few hours, only changing once, but I have no delusions that this will last.

  6. Troubleshooting – My Pages aren’t appearing

They must be public pages – not private not password protected.
Public – The page will be visible to everyone.
Protected – The page is protected with a password you set. Only people who have the password can view a protected page.
Private – Pages are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private pages are not visible in Blog Surfer, feeds, or in any search. A page can be private without being password protected.

Locate the pages in the dashboard and edit them to check page visibility settings. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/

*All Pages are displayed in alphabetical order unless you create a custom menu.

  7. There are two approaches you can use. This first one is when you only have Pages.

    1. Page Order - Page attributes module order numerically rather than alphabetically.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/

    2. This approach is for those who have created a custom menu and have added pages to that custom menu.
    create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
add the pages and sub-pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages
    order them http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-of-menu-items-and-creating-sub-menus

Troubleshooting – My pages are in the wrong order
If you have a custom menu then you must establish consistency. Check the Pages sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. Remove if required.

Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the menu. Establish consistency – problem solved

  8. I can't speak for the others here, but my problem is that all my pages have been currently visible, not private, not in drafts, numbered correctly in the attributes, yet still fluctuate wildly in their order.

I am not using a custom menu. Is this something I will have to do in order to get them to correctly align?

  9. kitdoctor, I'm having the same problem. I created a couple of pages, it was fine, then they just disappeared.

I'm on the CHUNK theme, and the "ABOUT" and "HOME" pages still show, but the two other pages I created just...come and go at will. I don't understand why it's happening.

It started for me when I put a header image on the page; that's the first thing that made my pages disappear. But I took off the image, tried republishing the pages, still nothing.
