Panel Theme: Issue with Instagram photos

  1. Hi,

I just switched over to the Panel theme and I love it. There is an issue with the way the theme displays Instagram photos however.

I would like the photos to be center, rather than right-aligned as it looks weird considering the text area is quite wide.

Another issue is that from today morning, I see the theme has changed the way Instagram photos display

    See an example here: http://nishitak.com/2013/07/06/four-seasons-wine-for-a-special-occasion/

There is quite a big white space area between the bottom of the photo and the text following it.

    Can that be corrected?

    Thanks,

The blog I need help with is nishitak.com.

  2. Hi there,

You can change the way Instagram photos are positioned in your posts using the alignment icons in the Visual Editor. You just need to select the URL (or shortcode) for your Instagram photo, and then choose the kind of alignment you want. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment and https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/ for more details.

That's true, I get the same whitespace using Panel Theme, which I do not get with my regular Chunk theme. It might be some issue with the theme itself.

  3. Hi nishikk,

Instagram recently changed the way they work with embeds. I reported the issue to our engineers and will get back to you when there is news. :)

  4. Hi,

Thanks for the responses. I think Instagram have fixed that weird white space issue, I don't see it any more.

However, I can't use Fabiana's method to align Instagram images. When I select the link and center it using the Visual editor, the photo does not appear on the published blog, only the link.

So, it looks like we can't control the alignment from within WordPress?

  5. Hi nishikk,

Have you tried using the shortcode instead? See http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/instagram/ for instructions on how to use it.

    That is correct.

You could try to circumvent that be wrapping the link in a <div style="text-align: center;"> element to center it.
