Parents and Children – Click or not to Click?

    I’m trying to get a grasp on the proper way to tag my posts:

    When authoring a new post on, say “Miami”, for example — would I tick the categories “North America” and “United States” (which is a child of North America), or simply United States?

    What are the advantages/disadvantages of labeling a post under both the parent and a child, versus only a category child?

    North America
    – United States
    – Miami

    I think it would depend on what you want to do. It could be categorized under all three – North American, United States and Miami – although someone looking for information on North America or the United States, may not be looking for information on Miami. If they were looking for information on Miami, then they would click on that category.
