Partial feed with photo issue

    Hi.
I just posted last night using a partial feed - I've always used full feed. I thought it would give me a better read on how many people are looking at the site. This seems to have worked as my traffic was higher in comparison to when I post with a full feed. My only concern is that a partial feed does not include a photo, only text. Is there a way for me to have a photo included in a partial feed?
    Thanks for the help.
    Nancy

The blog I need help with is 4plates2table.com.

  2. If you were to switch to a theme which displays custom excerpts (either as main posts or as archives and categories) then your feed and email would be able to show an image.
Here is a list of themes which have functional custom excerpts:

I don't know if it is necessary for the custom excerpt function to be functional in order for feeds to display pictures… I'm using themes where custom excerpts work. It could be that making a custom excerpt in any theme would work with rss and email subscriptions. I just don't know…

Thanks for the quick response. I don't see my theme on the list and I'm not looking to switch at this time. However I will do a little research on the custom excerpt function and see what I can find. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong - which was causing a photo to not show in the partial feed.
    Thanks again.

  4. Hi Nancy!
I just tested a custom excerpt on a test blog wearing Under the Influence and the pictures and text I pasted into the custom excerpt box appear in the RSS feed! Thanks for the question: I learned something!

    That's great news!
Any chance you could tell me the steps I have to do to make that happen.
I'm not familiar with custom excerpts and am definitely a pro when it comes to making changes to the blog outside of using the usual tools that it provides.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  6. As Tess indicated some themes are coded to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog. If the theme daoes have an active excerpt box (most themes do not have an active excerpt feature) then you can create a teaser and copy and paste the excerpt of your choice into the excerpt box below the post editor and overirde that front page excerpt display. If you do not see the Excerpt module, click the Screen Options tab near the top-right on your Admin page when writing or editing a post and make sure that “Excerpt” is checked first.

Look in the Modules that can be hidden here:
Posts – Post Tags, Categories, Excerpt, Send Trackbacks, Discussion, Comments, Post Slug, Post Author, Post Revisions
