Password a blog without making it private?

  1. I'd like to be able to set things so that you have to enter a password to see the blog, but I don't actually want to make it private. I want to be able to just give the password to people without having to add them, without having a limited amount of readers, and without forcing them to make an account.

    Is this possible?

I don't really think it is, but I figured I'd check. I'll probably just have to keep it public.

The blog I need help with is colleenswriting.wordpress.com.

  2. I would love to have this option as well but have not been able to find the solution yet. Just spent a month creating a blog and went to make it public then realized everyone I want to give access to has to have a wordpress account. That's way too much work! I want to make it easy for people but doesn't look like I can...

  3. You have to password protect every page and post as explained here.

You can use the bulk edit features for pages and posts to do it to multiple pages or posts all at once. Once someone enters the password they will not be required to reenter it till they clear their browser cookies, then they will be asked to enter it again.
