Paypal/ Credit Card Payment Issues during Domain Mapping Purchase

  1. Hi Guys,

I am currently residing in India and was trying to complete the domain mapping for my blog http://thinkworthyblog.wordpress.com by making the $13 payment on WordPress. However for both the credit card and Paypal payment attempts the following error is returned - "The transaction cannot complete successfully. Please check the billing address and expiration date or try another card. Please contact your bank if you have further problems." This despite me holding absolutely valid credit card and paypal accounts through which I have made purchases in the recent past. (as recent as yesterday!). It'll be great if someone else out there is able to help. I am looking to map to the new domain name (www.thinkworthy.in) as soon as possible.

The blog I need help with is thinkworthyblog.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,

The transaction has been declined by the bank that issued your credit card. This can happen for a variety of reasons, although we're not able to see why. Some of the reasons are:

    • closed credit card account
    • account is over the limit
    • account is past due
    • automated fraud alert

The last reason above, an automated fraud prevention block, is the most common. Usually you just need to call your bank and let them know you want to make a purchase on WordPress.com, and they can get the block removed right away.

Can you please get in touch with the bank and then try your payment again?

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
